The History of Casino Craps

The recorded history of Craps dates all the way back to a dice game called Hazard, which goes back to Bernard de Mandeville in New Orleans in Eightteen Thirteen. Hazard is believed to be a byproduct of Azzahr, meaning 'the die' a game enjoyed by Arabs.

The game evolved as it traveled from the Arab regions to France and then England. By the early 18th century, cultivated rules for Hazard had been developed. France adopted the British variation of Hazard and is assumed to have been imported to the us by early French colonizers. In the mid-Eighteenth century, when the British defeated the French in Canada, the French colonizers migrated to Louisiana. Dice were enjoyed on river boats, clubs and wharfs and a modernized 'American' style of Craps was created. The game headed west and is a favored game that is competed in all over the U.S. and throughout the world.

The name 'Craps' is believed to be a French articulation of the term crabs, which means a pair of '1s'. There are two basic kinds of Craps that are enjoyed-street Craps and casino Craps. Street caps, correctly called since it is wagered on the streets is where a hurler establishes a point and then tries to make that point. The wagering is made either with or against the shooter and someone must cover the bet in order for the dice game to continue.

In casino Craps, which is the popular game, competed in in betting houses, the casino funds the casino game. The participants gamble against the house-the house covers all of the bets of all of the individuals. Craps was a quite well-liked casino game but in the past twenty years had divided itself and different games, like poker and blackjack became more popular. However, Craps is observing a come back in recognition once again in internet betting houses and in real casinos.
